The MRFC Futures Academy's primary mission is to help these young players develop a passion for the game while having fun! This program provides a great introduction to soccer. We do this by playing 4v4 games and providing basic skill development. This program is designed for both boys and girls ages 4 - 7.(Birth Years 2011 - 2014 *must be 4 years old prior to start date of session)
This program allows parents to register for one block session at a time (see registration link for Block Session One above and below) and attend as many or few sessions in that block as you'd like. We plan to offer six block sessions throughout the year. Each block will run for approximately six weeks consisting of twelve total sessions and 1-2 jamborees.
The Futures Academy relies on the mentorship of our older premier level high school players, who volunteer their time in order to invest in the 'futures' of our club. The mentors follow a curriculum developed by our Directors of Coaching (DOCs) at both the recreational and premier levels. Additional support will be provided on site by multiple veteran coaches and trainers.
If you are a parent interested in volunteering as a 'game day manager', please consider reaching out to either of our Directors of Coaches below.
WHY ACADEMY STYLE?
Academy players will receive an ‘EDUCATION FIRST‘ environment, that will be the beginning of a new club culture, duplicated for generations to come. It helps create a more professional environment, leading to coaches being able to nurture intelligent, adaptable soccer players who will eventually play at the highest level THEY want to play at.
This program will also allow MRFC to develop young coaches while establishing a methodology and style of play for the new club culture.
Renowned clubs that run academies for children this age are:
• FC Barcelona • New England Revolution
• FC Bayern Munich • Manchester United
MRFC FUTURES ACADEMY
Futures will provide services to children who love soccer and a pathway for talented players to progress into premier soccer while creating a positive learning environment in which to develop.
SESSION STRUCTURE & DELIVERY PLATFORM
MRFC offers two, forty-five minute sessions per week for ages 4-7, where players will receive appropriate instruction to improve the individual’s technical and physical capabilities.
TOPICS OF DELIVERY
1. ABC’s (Agility, Balance, Coordination)
3. Turning with the ball
4. Striking the ball
Warm up/Game 1:
We encourage the dynamic approach to warming up, so players are active and understand why warming up is important.
Semi-opposed Games should lead directly into an opposed practice to help create the edge that will separate your players from others. That technique becomes a skill in an opposed environment.
Small-sided games provide players with more touches on the ball, allowing creativity and expression and the opportunity to become more efficient with space they are given. Ultimately, game-like situations are the best teacher of all.
Jamborees (Every third Saturday of the block)
Jamborees are an opportunity for players and families to experience a traditional rec like environment by playing on teams in a round robin tournament where the only thing that matters is having FUN!
